Therapy: Physical, Occupational,
and Speech
The therapy department is managed by Medi-Comp through Pioneer Health Care Systems. Licensed physical therapists, certified physical therapy assistants and other staff provide important physical and occupational therapy on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
A registered speech therapist is on staff to diagnose and treat problems with speech and swallowing on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
Radiology
The radiology department is covered 24/7 by a licensed radiology technologist. All radiological studies are sent by the PACs system to Comprehensive Radiology for reading and results may be returned to Covington County Hospital within 30 minutes in emergency situations. The radiology department is equipped with a BrightSpeed Elite 16-slice CT scanner with reconstruction capabilities as well as a LOGIQ 7 ultrasound with RealTime 4D imaging. Nuclear cardiac stress testing is also available.
Nutritional Services
The cafeteria staff provides healthy, delicious meals for the patients and employees of Covington County Hospital. A registered dietitian manages the patients' nutrition assessment and needs.
Geropsychiatric Unit
A 10 bed Senior Care Unit is available to care for the elderly patient in
need of inpatient psychiatric care.
Outpatient Geriatric Psychiatric Facility
Staffed by RNs, social services, an activities director, and transportation,
Covington County Hospital Outpatient Behavioral Health is available for
outpatient geriatric psychiatric care.
Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory therapy is staffed with certified respiratory therapists. These
therapists work under the direct supervision of the physician and defined
therapeutic guidelines.
Outpatient Specialty Clinic
Covington County Hospital provides an outpatient specialty clinic for the
convenience of the patient. By providing specialty services such as
cardiology, orthopedics among others, patients are able to see their
specialists locally.
